The best Christmas present

Since I can remember Christmas has always meant family, sparkly colours and beautiful decorations, friends and of course sweets and presents.
I have always enjoyed giving presents (even more than receiving) and had no trouble choosing the best gift to offer to a friend, relative or anyone else for that matter.
This year, however, after all, we’ve been through, the presents did not seem like they were enough….
And this got me thinking about what would be the best gift.
After much introspection, I have concluded, that this year more important than objects and other material things the best gift would be: Hope.
Yes, hope is definitely what I want to offer to those closest to me.
The 21st century (and especially this year) hasn’t been easy on us, we have been systematically confronted with things that we do not control and have no clue to where this is guiding us.
So there is a need to compensate, somehow, this unbalances and therefore we may need to resort to “hope”.
Hope is a result of combining a desire and a belief in something, namely something good that is going to happen in the future. It expresses a desire for something to be better further ahead, which results in positive expectation for what’s to come. It doesn’t…
