It’s known that anxiety affects many aspects of our lives, even sex.
Sometimes the mind and body may not be in sync when you’re having sex, which can affect both males and females. In this article, I’ll be discussing how anxiety can affect your performance during and before you have sex.
Let’s talk about how it affects men.
When it comes to erectile dysfunction, anxiety can be one of the main contributors. Unfortunately, this is a problem that can affect even young men around their twenties or thirties. The anxiety can come especially at the start of the sex life when there is more stress and self-awareness/self-consciousness related to the performance. This is actually the most common cause of erectile dysfunction in young men. In addition, when they cannot maintain an erection, this causes them to feel even more anxious.

Even though I’ve started explaining how anxiety affects men’s performance during sex, women are no exception.
You see, some women who feel anxious can have a hard time getting aroused, reaching an orgasm, or may even feel pain while having sex. This is because anxiety can overshadow any sensation of pleasure. Studies show that women diagnosed with anxiety disorders can actually be more prone to feel pain during penetration.
